Personal Statement:

“Life is about relationships. Our relationship with God, our relationship with ourselves and our relationship with others.”

My Calling:

I was called to counsel long before I received any formal training as a psychologist. Throughout my life God demonstrated on many occasions that He gifted me with the ability to counsel and support the physically, emotionally and spritually wounded. While I have used this gift to assist those in the world and draw them nearer to Him as a part of my professional practice, my greater purpose is to use my gift to uplift the Kingdom and glorify His Holy name.

 

Training/ Expertise:

I received doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at Regent University. I have worked as a counselor/therapist in various settings throughout my professional career. I am currently a professor and licensed psychologist at Eastern Virginia Medical School and serve as the Clinical Director for Summit Counseling Ministry at The Mount.

Personal Statement:

“Everyone has value, regardless of status, situation or circumstance”

My Calling:

Ever since I can remember I have been sensitive to the needs and hurts of others. I believe I am called to inspire and validate those who are hurting, in a way that uplifts their spirits and helps them to feel nurtured, cared for and valued by God.

 

Training/ Expertise:

I received a B.S. in Nursing from Hampton University and a M.S. in Gerontology from Virginia Commonwealth University. I am currently the Director of the Palliative, Pastoral Care and Clinical Ethics departments at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gerontology I have done extensive training and group facilitation on aging, care giving, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Personal Statement:

“Faith makes it possible, not easy”

My calling:

God called me to be his servant long before I was aware of how I was called to serve.  God has purposefully placed me in various situations where people needed someone to talk to with an open mind, compassionate heart, and advice based on His word.  Over the years I have felt a calling on my life to help others.  It is not by coincidence that I have found my calling as a counselor at “The Mount”.  It is with His purpose and plan that I counsel and assist others in their spiritual walk.  Uplifting others to walk in the light and fulfill the purpose God has for each of our lives.

Training/Expertise:

My background is in clinical laboratory science.  As a collateral duty while serving in the U.S. Navy, I began counseling Navy personnel as a career counselor.  I have continued my studies in counseling with recently beginning a Master’s program at Liberty University to attain a graduate degree in Professional Counseling.  Immediately following this program, I will begin my doctoral education in Psychology at Saybrook University in August 2011.  It is with the attainment of the highest level of education that I will continue His work as a Christian Counselor and Psychologist.

My Calling:

  My calling to the body of Christ is to encourage, motivate, heal hearts, and support believers in achieving their God given dreams and destiny. 

Training/Expertise:

I have counseled for years in the Christian community, but I obtained my Professional Certification as a Marriage / Life Coach from the International Coaching Academy. I currently operate my own coaching practice –Dream Builders Professional Coaching.  My area of expertise is helping couples prevent and overcome infidelity, improve communications, and forgive emotional hurt from the past.

My Calling:

  Through my life experiences, I have came to understand that I have been called to counsel, support and help heal those who have been emotionally and spiritually wounded. 

Training/Expertise:

  I have counseled for years in the Christian community.  I received a Masters in Education at Regent University.  I am currently a graduate student in Regent’s Counseling Program.  Through this program, I have gained knowledge and experience in counseling children and adults.

My Calling:

From childhood to present, God has placed me in positions to lift and heal people who are ready for His promise.  I have the pleasure of frequent reflections on the journey in the Kingdom using my God given gifts to provide motivation, inspiration and health information to those in my presence, using biblical and psychiatric concepts.

Training/Expertise:

I earned my graduate degree for psychiatric nurse practitioner at Molloy College in Rockville Center, NY in 2000.  I have served several populations in diverse settings as a nurse therapist and educator since then.  I am currently a professor Hampton University.

The door to emotional healing and deliverance is opened when we change our mindset about our situation.

My Calling:

I have a strong desire to minister to those experiencing past hurt and pain. Having suffered many emotional scars during my childhood, marriage, and adult life,  I feel that I can effectively counsel and guide others through the encouragement of God’s Word to live a victorious life in Christ.

I completed the following counseling courses: Caring for People, Marriage Works, and Breaking Free. I serve as a facilitator in the Marriage College at the Mount, while mentoring numerous individuals in reaching their full potential in Christ.

My Calling:

Possessing the heart and attitude of a servant and determined to fulfill the call God has placed on my life I am led to counsel and guide others in reaching their destiny, by living a victorious life in Christ through obedience and fruitful living.

I served 26 years as a Navy Corpsman with several years as a mental health professional where I completed numerous relationship and health related training.  I also completed the following counseling courses: Caring for People, Marriage Works, and Breaking Free. I serve as a facilitator in the Marriage College at the Mount, while mentoring numerous individuals in reaching their full potential in Christ.

My Calling:

I was called before I knew who Jesus was, and He has been preparing me ever since.  My trials and life experiences as well as my education and training have all come together to mold and shape me into a counselor.  I do not take this invitation to speak into someone’s life lightly, it is an honor and only through The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit am I equipped.

Personal Statement:

Life is about helping people!  As a Christian Counselor, I am expected to know and use the Bible, use prayer, and point the counselee toward the Holy Spirit, and spiritual growth. By “Daring to Care,” I am helping God’s people break free from satan’s bondage and understand the truth of the word of God; (John 8: 31&32).

My Calling:

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Counseling, and am certified with one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.  I have worked as a Therapeutic Case Manager and Clinical Therapist.  I currently serve as a Lay Counselor with Summit Counseling at The Mount in Elizabeth City.

After witnessing the delivering power of
God in her life as well as the lives many others which were delivered from
many behavioral dysfunctions, spiritual strongholds and toxic relationships
she has come to realized that freely she has been given so freely she will

I am fully persuaded of his power and knows that what he has
done for her and others he will continue to do if he has vessels that are
willing to labor.
