Fire Safety and Evacuation

Students are trained in fire drill procedures.

  • The alarm sounds and each class lines up within the classroom.
  • Following the arrows of the floor plan, f the students walk in a single line to the destination indicated for the class.
    • The leader starts the line out of the room.
    • Last person in line or the teacher closes the classroom door , and turn out the light.
    • There is no talking in line.
    • There should be no running, but children should walk quickly.
    • When the class reaches its assembly point, the children stop and turn around in place to face the building.
    • Teacher takes attendance by calling each child’s name from the grade book.
    • Bell indicates return to building.
  • After independent practice, the entire school will have a combined fire drill.
    • A fire drill will be practiced once a month.
    • The first class the exits the outside should prop the doors open.
    • The last class that exits should close the doors.
  • Fire alarm system testing is completed quarterly.
  • Sprinkler system testing quarterly.
